Fishy Tales 2007

During the 3 Harbours Festival we staged a theatrical trilogy in the Chalmers Church Hall, marching in the streets and 'on the green'. The three elements of the story are based on true facts from the locality. Clients and staff from Port Seton Resource Centre in conjunction with Lung Ha Theatre Company and Stevenson College performed the play. The play was conceived and written by James Smith and June Herraghty and directed by Clark Crystal. Many local people attended the show and members of the Dickson family kindly brought along the actual gold ring that the story was based on.

During WWII the Port Seton fishing boat 'Dayspring' rescued the pilot of a German Bomber that was shot down over the Forth. The Captain of the boat was John Dickson and two of his sons were crew members. In gratitude for saving his life the pilot gave Tarry, one of the sons, a gold ring.

The box procession and protesters march on the green. The box was used to hold and distribute money for members of the Port Seton fishing community a bit like cooperative societies.

The developers duck as abuse is hurled. Local people reenact the community protests used to prevent development on the green.
